/ Business Sponsor
The Project Sponsor is usually a member of the management team who will be the recipient of the project’s end result (the product). The Project Sponsor is typically the head of a program area. This individual makes the business argument for the project to exist, controls the overall funding of the project and defines the acceptance criteria of the product. Many organizations have directives such as Information Technology Security Certification and Accreditation which identifies security related responsibilities for the System Owner. Please see Appendix I for more information on Certification and Accreditation.
